A good maternity nurse or nanny will be able to assist you expertly and discretely in the care of your new arrival. They should leave you happy, relaxed and able to enjoy you new arrival, continuing your daily life as normally as possible. They will provide routine guidance and training and will cater for both the needs of the parent and the new born.

To effectively work with your maternity nurse or nanny as a parent you must:
1. Communicate your needs effectively
2. Cooperate with their guidelines
3. Look at the routine together
4. Arrange a contract and Payment details together
5. Provide adequate accommodation and rest time
6. Rest!

The maternity nurse or nanny should be able to advise and support you in the following areas:

1. Establishing a good routine including sleep
2. Providing support, respite & reassurance
3. Give guidance on feeding, washing, dressing, bonding, organising the nursery
4. Helping around the house with chores and cooking

To effectively establish the sleeping routine it is very important that you work with the maternity nurse / nanny and cooperate with their guidelines. The sleep routine should fit in with your lifestyle and can be structured or more relaxed to suit. You should feel comfortable with the routine. Another good idea is to provide your maternity nurse / nanny with your views on the following:

1. The kind of feeding routine you would like… Structured, Flexi or Supply on Demand
2. The kind of daily routine you would like… Structured, Flexi or Supply on Demand
3. If you require sleep training
4. Your ideas on who will do what role in the nights for feeds, changes & settling
5. Your expectations of the maternity nurse / nanny
6. Your specific views or beliefs on sleeping, feeding, controlled crying & crying
7. If you intend for the baby to sleep in the same room as the maternity nurse / nanny
8. Your intentions regarding feeding the baby

Maternity Nurses are self-employed and liable for their own Tax and National Insurance Contributions.

Maternity Nurse (single baby) £750 – £900 or £125-£160 a day
Maternity Nurse (Twins) £850 – £1050 or £150-£180 a day
Maternity Nurse (Triplets) £950 – £1200 or £175+ a day
Daily/Nightly Maternity Nurse (single baby) £13 – £15 per hour
Daily/Nightly Maternity Nurse (twins) £15 – £18 per hour
Junior Maternity Nurse £80-£125 a day

The client is requested to reimburse reasonable travelling expenses for interviews and travel at commencement of post. For overseas positions the employer is responsible for all travel and medical insurance and the cost of the return flight.

Please register your requirement as far possible in advance. We generally take bookings for Maternity Nurses 6 months before the expected due date.
