The Anaphylaxis Campaign – Orange Wig Day 2018

The Anaphylaxis Campaign is an amazing organisation that supports people who are at risk of severe allergies.

Every year, The Anaphylaxis Campaign has a day known as ‘Orange wig day’.

Orange Wig Day gives people up and down the country the opportunity to show their solidarity and support for this fantastic campaign, whilst also raising awareness and funds for those affected by severe allergies.

On Friday 18th May, you are able to get involved!

Friday 18th May is the campaigns ‘wear a orange wig day’ where you are able to wear a particularly ‘stylish’ orange wig in aid of everyone who is affected by Anaphylaxis.

The concept is simple and fun and enables everyone of different ages to get involved.

By wearing your wig to work, to school, to the gym or even to the shops, this is an easy way for you and your children to get involved and show your support, as well as also raising awareness.

You may decide to even take it a little bit further and host a party or either a coffee/ cake morning for people to attend wearing their orange wigs, with all the profits going to the campaign.

Last year, the team at Head Office and Harmony at Home’s Company Director, Frankie Gray, got involved by wearing their very own orange wigs to show their support and to raise awareness.

We are also proud to announce that Harmony at Home are corporate members of The Anaphylaxis Campaign.

We have chosen to support this amazing organisation and all the fantastic work they do, raising awareness for people who suffer with severe allergies and Anaphylaxis. They rely 100% on the donations that they receive, and do not get any Government funding.

So, get your orange wigs at the ready and be prepared for a day of laughs and most of all, fun in aid of The Anaphylaxis Campaign.

Nanny Salary trends across the UK for 2016 – 2017

February 19, 2017 | Leave a Comment

Revealing Nanny Salary trends across the UK for 2016 – 2017

The results of the NannyTax Annual Wage Survey have just been published for 2016. This is the most comprehensive and up-to-date study of its kind in the UK. It is based on data collected from over 423 nannies, 771 nanny employers, and 62 nanny agencies—including Harmony at Home.

2016 has been a steady year for nannies in the UK, with nearly all nannies experiencing an increase in salary.  Live Out ‘Daily’ Central London have been the only notable loser, experiencing a 17% dip in salary compared to 2015, interestingly Greater London Live out nannies experienced an increase of 11%. Outside London, average live-in nanny salaries have increased by 14.57% with the highest increase of 18% in Central London. Unsurprisingly, Greater London and Home Counties tops the table for the highest paid nannies in the country, with live-out nannies earning on average £35k gross salary per year.

Compared to 2015, there has been a significant increase in awareness, among nannies and employers, of the auto enrolment scheme for workplace pensions. By the end of 2017, all nanny employers will have to make pension schemes available to their employees, irrespective of whether they qualify for auto enrolment.

As with previous years, there was a large amount of confusion among nannies regarding their salary agreements. Most nanny employers prefer to negotiate salary based on gross income, whereas a significant proportion of nannies prefer to negotiate on net income. In 2016, this resulted in staggering 15% of nannies who were unaware of the nature of their agreements—i.e. gross or net! The clear majority of this confusion was among inexperienced nannies who were recruited directly by employers, rather than through an agency. At Harmony at Home we recommend that all nannies should negotiate salary based on gross income.

2016 continued the slow and steady decline in voluntary registration with OFSTED. With the introduction of the Tax Free Childcare scheme in 2017, we predict that the demand for OFSTED-registered nannies is likely to increase (Childcare vouchers vs tax-free childcare). It would appear that nanny agencies are promoting Ofsted registration as 67% of nanny agencies stated that their clients preferred an Ofsted registered nanny.

70% of nanny employers said that BREXIT will not affect whether they employ a nanny.

“I joined the Harmony at Home brand because I was impressed with their professional approach to childcare,” said Katie Bryson, during a recent visit to the Harmony at Home Head Office in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. “I know that anybody considering engaging a nanny needs to have confidence in the agency that they use… and I believe that can only come from the national organisation that is Harmony at Home.”

Founder and Director of Harmony at Home Limited, Frankie Gray, is equally confident. “This is such an exciting moment in the 12 year history of Harmony at Home. Katie is so full of energy and enthusiasm and her professional abilities are beyond question. I can’t wait to see her business flourish and grow.”

Please Vote for Us! Flexibility for working mums creates Harmony at Home

May 11, 2016 | Leave a Comment

We are delighted to be nominated for the National 2016 mumandworking.co.uk Award in the Franchisor/Licensor of the Year category and we need your help… this award is voted for.

Here is a little more about our journey and ethos…

How do you create a flourishing franchise network? The UK and International nanny and household agency Harmony at Home definitely knows the secret—and flexibility at work is an important part of the formula.

Founded in 2004, by Norland Nanny and mother of three, Frankie Gray, the company has experienced 12 years of unparalleled growth to become one of the most highly-regarded nanny and childcare agencies in the business. The Harmony at Home brand also includes an extremely successful Children’s Boutique, as well as a dedicated Nanny Academy. So, how do they do it?

“As a mother of three,” explains Founder and Director, Frankie Gray, “I completely understand the pressures of modern family life. The regular nine till five employment model just doesn’t fit anymore, particularly for working mums and dads, and part time employment usually doesn’t pay. So, at Harmony at Home, we’re proud to offer an alternative flexible working model, which empowers parents and helps them take control.”

“There are too many talented women and men out there,” continues Frankie Gray, “whose ambitions and dreams have remained unfulfilled, due to inflexible work practices. This is bad for them, bad for their families, and also bad for the economy.”

By tapping into this rich vein of talent, Frankie Gray has built up a thriving network of entrepreneurs who really appreciate the benefits of being their own bosses using the Flexible Working Franchise model.

“Owning my own business,” explains Philippa Day, owner of Harmony at Home Nanny Agency Berkshire, “has affected my life in such a positive way. I can now be as successful as I choose to be; and the harder I work, and the more passionate I am about my job, the better my own personal family life becomes. And, as a working mum, I can also spend more quality time with my children; picking them up from school and helping them with trumpet and guitar practice!”

But, it doesn’t stop there. The Harmony at Home flexible employment model also recognises that many nannies and childcare workers have their own children.

“Our services are tailored to incorporate all work seekers, including those with children of their own,” explains Frankie Gray. “We welcome every childcare professional to register with us, subject to the statutory checks, and we actively place hundreds of nannies, with their own children, in happy households each year—including my own!”

Please vote for Harmony at Home to win the Mum and Working Flexible Working Franchisor/Licensor of the Year Award 2016 by clicking the nomination link picture below.

“Philippa works tirelessly to promote Harmony at Home,” said Frankie Gray. “She is everything we could wish for in a Franchisee. We hope that the next year brings her an equally amazing level of success.”

It’s no coincidence that Philippa was also nominated for this year’s Working Mums Top Franchisee of the Year award, which is a national competition covering a wide range of businesses.

Gold Standard of Customer Service

Frankie Gray also had an important announcement to make regarding customer service. Following an independent audit, in which all franchisees were approached by a highly demanding mystery shopper, it was revealed that every branch of the Harmony at Home network had passed with flying colours! It was therefore with great pride that Frankie Gray awarded her entire team with Gold Standard certificates for Customer Service.

New Product Launch
